The first Conflux Network hackathon is complete. Congratulations to the winners!

We launched the Conflux Network mainnet on October 29th, and in celebration, kicked off our first hackathon — Hacking Decentralized Commerce — on November 2nd! Over three weeks, Hacking Decentralized Commerce brought in a diverse range of applications and ideas ranging from cross-chain tokens to governance.

Thank you to all the participants and developers who spent time building and supporting the community to make this event possible. Many thanks to our partners — Aave, Chainlink, Gitcoin — and our judges: Fan Long, Eden Dhaliwal, Stani Kulechov, David Truong, Adelyn Zhou, and Patrick Collins.

Hackathon Showcase and Meetup

The winners of the hackathon will also be able to participate in meetup and demo day next Tuesday, December 1st at 3 pm (Eastern Time). Join us for a panel on the future of Web3 from a developer’s perspective with panelists from Conflux Network, Chainlink, The Graph, and Gitcoin. Then stay on to see our hackathon winners showcase their projects! …

An Open Source Tool for Connecting Conflux Network and Gaming

Written by Conflux Network’s Research Engineer Aaron Lu

Blockchain and gaming is a rapidly evolving space. The days of Cryptokitties in 2017 have evolved into the creation of metaverses or battle-royale games where assets are tracked on a blockchain’s immutable ledger with non-fungible tokens (NFTs). While the blockchain gaming space has seen an explosion of growth with over $2.1 million in trading volume (as of November 17, 2020), it is only a small sliver of the gaming industry that is valued at $155 billion and includes established giants such as League of Legends and Minecraft.

Bringing blockchain to the rest of the gaming industry is a monumental task that faces two major obstacles — speed and complexity. Speed, specifically blockchain transaction speed, is vital for integrating with modern games. Users should be able to trade and purchase assets quickly without needing to wait minutes for transactions to confirm. Complexity is another roadblock for connecting in-game assets with NFTs. To integrate blockchain-based assets, a developer must first set up all the necessary components — user key management solutions, a deployed smart contract, create all of the necessary functions for interacting with the blockchain, and create a marketplace for exchanging goods. …

Today, we are happy to announce the formation of the Conflux DAO. 👏

To achieve decentralized governance and healthier development of the Conflux Network, we believe that the formation of the DAO is critical not only for the future of the network but also for the benefit of every staking member in the community.

Along with the community, the Conflux Foundation will continue to explore the governance methods of the DAO. Conflux is prepared for its first vote on governance which includes but is not limited to improving user experience, enhancing network efficiency, and modulating CFX circulation.

Congestion and gas fees on layer-1 blockchains are steadily rising and hitting new heights as decentralized finance (DeFi) continues to grow into the alternative financial layer of the global economy. As the fees related to gas continue to break all-time highs, the initial target market of DeFi users — those who cannot afford traditional financial infrastructure — are now seeing themselves priced-out of DeFi because of transaction fees eating into their profits. Ethereum Average Gas Price is currently averaging $2.50, up from $0.67 one year ago. This is an increase of 239.1% …

Conflux Network Phase III — Tethys is officially launched.

Born in 1969, the Internet has been diverse due to the participation of the public and it has re-constructed our world. For the first time, everyone has the right to equally communicate with the world.

Before Google appeared, Web 1.0 already existed. As the first-generation network, it is static and one-way. It solves people’s needs for searching information and aggregation. Portals and yellow pages are the most common examples of Web 1.0.

However, one-way human-computer communication could not meet people’s needs, so in 2004 Web 2.0 was introduced. The original intention of Web 2.0 was to include more diverse elements on the Internet, and give the general public their own voice. Web 2.0, the Read/Write Network, is composed of social media, blogs, and online communities. …
